29 May HOT ROLLER SET VERSUS OLD SCHOOL WET SET
Stylist are often conflicted about which path to take in preparing the client’s hair for their big event.
We want: High shine & Long lasting curls, which are either shaped tight, Soft romantic, or medium classic. All of this in the least amount of time.
So let review the following chart to gives some guidance (please take note this may vary according to the humidity of the air):
|Wet set||Heated rollers||Hot irons/tongs|
|– Winding time +- 15 mins||– Winding time + – 10- 15 mins||– Curling whole head of long hair with heated iron 20 – 30 mins|
|– Drying time +- 30 – 45 mins||– Cooling down time +- 10 – 15 mins||– N/A|
|– Potential curl holds + – 8 hrs||– Potential curl hold + – 6 -7 hrs||– Potential curl holds 4-5 hrs|
|– Medium shine||– High shine||– High shine|
|Notes: If more shine is required you can apply more high shine sprays, but this may way the hair down or make it oily at the scalp.
Setting lines must be brushed out, which could result in curl loss.
|Notes: you can add a very firm setting spray, to keep the curl in longer, but will definitely make the curls appear more “crispy” versus soft and romantic
|Notes: Must use a heat protectant spray otherwise the hair will be overly heated which might cause permanent damage to the hair.
In your consultation, identify the client’s hair type, hair length and time available for you to style the hair. The consider when the pictures will be taken and the actual style.
HEATED ROLLERS ARE BEST FOR BRIDAL STYLES,
as it gives you less setting lines, softer curl feel with romantic shine, within the best timeframes.
